It’s still is only October, but it’s never too late to look ahead to the 2013-14 FBS Bowl season. Some love it, some hate it, but it’s just one of those things you have to deal with and just enjoy.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets–currently standing at 4-3 heading into their match-up with the UVA Cavaliers–are at least two wins away from being bowl eligible for this season. The Yellow Jackets have appeared in 16 consecutive bowl games, and it would be a shame for them to not make a bowl game this year.
With a record of 4-3, the Jackets are not looking at a BCS Bowl unless a lot of things go their way, but there are still some intriguing bowl games out there that would provide a great match-up for Tech. Last season they were invited to play in the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Tx. against a preseason top ranked USC team.
The Jackets are currently 3rd in the ACC Coastal standings, so with five games remaining, the possibilities of bowl games are still at a wide variety. One intriguing possibility is the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta. The fun thing is that bowl usually drops in a SEC team that was great during the regular season but fell short to the likes of powerhouse teams in the conference. It would be something if the Jackets were paired up with in-state rival Georgia, who has had a tough season but still remains in contention.
With the possibilities still expanded it’s fun to look ahead and predict who goes where and who will play where and try to plan the postseason but you never really know what’s going to happen at this point in the season.
The important thing at this point is for the Jackets to win as many remaining games as they can to make sure their streak of Georgia Tech football bowl appearances stays alive.
