In what has been a spectacular senior season for Georgia Tech defensive end Jeremiah Attaochu, his hard work will now begin to pay off in postseason awards and honors. Attaochu has been invited to play in the Reese’s Senior Bowl, and is only one of two ACC players who have been invited to this point.
The game will be played January 25 in Mobile, Alabama. Past Senior Bowls have had good representation from the Yellow Jackets, with Anthony Allen going in 2010, Michael Johnson and Vance Walker in 2008, and five different Tech players in 2007.
Attaochu has blossomed since making the switch from linebacker to end, and has worked his way into being one of the top pass rushers in the nation. He is is four sacks away from tying the Georgia Tech career record of 31.0 held by Greg Gathers. With one more sack, Attaochu will tie former Clemson stars Michael Dean Perry and Gaines Adams for 10th place on the ACC’s all-time sacks list.
And Attaochu’s potential suitors for agents have to be looking at the history involved, as of the 12 players in ACC history who recorded more sacks than Attaochu has to date, seven were NFL first-round draft picks.
