After allowing the Thunderbirds to get back in the game, the Georgia Tech women’s basketball team (3-2) outscored Southern Utah (4-2) 50-33 in the second half to secure an 85-60 victory in the semifinals of the LIU Turkey Classic. The Lady Jackets will now face McNeese State–who defeated LIU Brooklyn in their semifinal–Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in the championship game.
Senior Tyaunna Marshall was in charge, leading the Jackets with her first double-double of the season, and scoring a season-high 21 points with 10 rebounds. Freshman Kaela Davis ended the game in double-figures for the fifth-straight time, putting up 19 points (17 in the first half) and four boards.
But it was the Yellow Jackets defense that stood out, forcing 24 Thunderbirds turnovers, leading to 27 Georgia Tech points. The Jackets also had season-high 13 steals and ended the night with a 51-27 advantage in rebounds.
It was probably the most complete game the Lady Jackets have played this season, and it showed what this lineup is truly capable of doing when things are clicking.
