Unlike their male counterparts, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women’s basketball team had a fun trip to Brooklyn. The Lady Yellow Jackets turned in a strong performance against a very feisty McNeese State Cowgirls team and won 69-60 to take home the LIU Turkey Classic Title.
Tyaunna Marshall was huge for Georgia Tech with 20 points and 6 rebounds, while Roddreka Rogers held it down in the post with nine points and 13 rebounds.
The Lady Yellow Jackets took the lead up to as much as 12 points in the second halt, and once they were that far ahead of the Cowgirls there was no looking back, and they were never really in any danger the rest of the game. Georgia Tech shot a strong 49.2% from the field for the game and held McNeese St. to 42.1% shooting for the game.
The Cowgirls were led in scoring by Jayln Johnson who had 14 points and 8 assists, and Netanya Jones who logged 10 points on 5 of 5 shooting from the field to go along with nine boards. Celia Okoye also contributed with 13 points and seven rebounds for the Cowgirls.
