It’s gameday in Atlanta, Ga., and the Yellow Jacket and Bulldog nations will pack Bobby Dodd stadium for one of the most storied (and vicious) college football rivalries in the nation.
Game Time: 3:30 PM ET
Venue: Bobby Dodd Stadium, ATLANTA, GA
Series Record: Georgia Leads 63-39 (5 ties)
Last Meeting: Nov. 22, 2012 UGA 42 – GT 10
Current Line: Georgia by 3.5
Radio: WYAY 106.7 FM
“To Hell With Georgia”, “To Hell With Tech”, “Tame the Dawgs”, and “Wreck Tech” are just a few of the chants and hashtags that you’ll see and hear throughout this game, as both sides have a lot to win and a lot to lose in this year’s game.
Tech has lost four straight to the Bulldogs, and 11 of the last 12 meetings. Their last win against Georgia game in Paul Johnson’s first year as head coach of the Yellow Jackets in 2008. The Jackets triple-option offense completely stymied the Georgia defense, and the Yellow Jackets won the back-and-forth slugfest 45-42.
But since 2008, it’s been all Bulldogs, winning the last four games by a combined 145-85, and never looking truly in jeopardy of losing the game.
This year the two teams have identical records, and practically identical stats in many respects. Georgia is without star quarterback Aaron Murray, who tore an ACL against Kentucky last week, and Georgia Tech will try to take advantage of a green quarterback (Hutson Mason) who has never been in a game quite like this.
The table is set, and the plates of steaming hate are served. It’s time for “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” 2013.
