Georgia Tech Lady Jackets freshman Kaela Davis has proven to be a tough to handle for all the opponents she has faced. The 6’2 guard out of Suwanee, GA has been stellar in her freshman campaign to this point, and has received her second ACC Rookie Of The Week Award for the week ending Dec. 9th. Davis averaged a double-double this past week logging 22.5 points and 10 rebounds.
In the ACC/Big Ten Challenge Davis scored 16 points with two steals and an assist against the Illinois Lady Fighting Illini. But her best of the week was yet to come. This past Saturday, against Alabama A&M, Davis scored her second highest point total of the season with 29 and snatched 14 boards, which is her second highest rebound total of the season.
Davis on the year is averaging 19.8 ppg which ranks fourth in the ACC and leads all freshman in the conference. The freshman also ranks third in 3-point field goals made with 3.4 treys made per game. She has double digit scoring in every game she has taken the court in and has logged four games where she has scored 20 points or more.
She also won this award for the week of Nov. 11th after recording back to back double-doubles to open the season. Receiving this accolade twice in a little over a month definitely puts her in the running for ACC Rookie Of The Year. She is playing great basketball.
