Well that was quick. Less than 24 hours after reportedly backing out of the a four-game football series with Georgia Tech, it would seem that Tulane has reconsidered their position.
The Georgia Tech Athletics department is reporting that the once-cancelled Sept. 6 game is back on again, and from the looks of the release, the other games are as well:
Tulane University and Georgia Tech are pleased to announce that their previously scheduled football game will be played Sept. 6 in New Orleans.
University officials have been in continuous conversations about the game.
Both universities are looking forward to a competitive and exciting series.
So all the hoopla and uproar about the cancelled game and the subsequent search for a replacement opponent can now cease and desist.
The question now begs, was there something other than the questions surrounding the completion of Tulane’s new football stadium that prompted this whole fiasco in the first place? That may be one of those things that is never uttered in public if there is something else cooking.
So for those of you who are fighting with the airlines over cancellation fees for your flights to New Orleans, rest easy. Now your only worry will be getting through TSA agents with 50 lbs of gumbo and beignets in your bag (there’s always some sort of festival going on, right?).
