Georgia Tech senior Tyaunna Marshall has got to be excited about being named one of the Top 30 women in the nation with a chance to bring home the Naismith Women’s College Player of The Year trophy.
The Yellow Jackets women’s basketball forward has had a remarkable season this year, and has placed herself among the all-time Georgia Tech greats of the women’s basketball.
After her 32 point effort in a win over the North Carolina Tar Heels, Marshal became the all-time leading scorer in Yellow Jackets history, with 1,980 points. That number also puts her 23rd on the all-time ACC scoring list and just 20 points shy of being the first lady at Tech to hit the 2,000 point mark. Marshall also ranks in the top-10 in career rebounding (793) and steals (261) in Georgia Tech history.
Tyaunna Marshall leads the Jackets in scoring, rebounding, and steals this season with 20.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.7 steals. She also sits at second in scoring, steals and 10th in rebounding in the ACC, which makes her one of only two players in the conference to be ranked in the top-10 in three categories.
The Yellow Jackets ladies team currently is 16-8 overall and 6-5 in the ACC. They are in a pretty nice position to possibly get an NCAA Tournament bid this year if they can maintain their position in the standings and get a few ACC Conference Tournament wins.
Marshall is deserving of being placed on this prestigious list for a trophy that has, in the past, been given to greats of the women’s game such as Chamique Holdsclaw, Lisa Leslie, Rebecca Lobo, and Tina Charles.
Congratulations to Tyaunna Marshall on a remarkable achievements and on a remarkable season.
