Georgia Tech fans, if you are still jonesing for some hoops action, then never fear, March Madness 2014 hasn’t left the Flats yet. The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team is going dancing, and have been given a #10 seed in the 2014 NCAA Women’s Tournament.
The Lady Jackets will face the seventh-seeded LSU Tigers in the first round in Baton Rouge, La. on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
This will be the first time that the Lady Jackets have faced LSU in school history, and the matchup of teams is very close.
“We are really excited to be back in the NCAA tournament,” head coach MaChelle Joseph told RamblinWreck.com. “This is our seventh NCAA tournament in eight years. You obviously don’t like to play in the first round on someone’s home court but I have a lot of respect for the SEC and LSU. It’s a great opportunity for us. We played well on the road this year so we are looking forward to it.”
Hopefully the Jackets can continue their successful season and improve on run they made the last they played in the NCAA Tournament, when they advanced to Tech’s first-ever Sweet 16. In three out of their last four appearances, Tech has won its first round game. Georgia Tech is 5-8 all-time in the NCAA Tournament and 5-6 under Joseph. The Jackets have gone 4-2 in the first round in their last six appearances.
