Georgia Tech freshman shortstop Connor Justus has been named to the Brooks Wallace Award watch list, according to a release from the Georgia Tech athletic association.
Justus is one of 35 shortstops nationally to be named to the initial watch list for the award, which is presented annually to the best shortstop in college baseball.
The Cartersville, Ga. freshman has had an impressive rookie season both in the field and at the plate. He is fielding .963 for the season including a recent streak of 24 consecutive error-free games.
At the plate, Justus is hitting .300 with six doubles, a triple, two home runs and 21 RBI, and has come through in several clutch situations with game-winning hits in key games
If you haven’t had the opportunity to watch this kid play, you need to take in a few games. Justus has MLB prospect written all over him. He was instrumental in the Jackets series win over then-top-ranked Florida State, garnering ACC Player of the Week honors for himself in the process.
