Former Georgia Tech teammates Glen Rice Jr. and Daniel Miller are joined up once again on the same squad. Only this time it is on the Washington Wizards Summer League Team, and in Las Vegas they both contributed in the Wizards winning their opening game 90-74 over the Atlanta Hawks.
Rice started for the Wizards and was solid dropping 22 points and four rebounds on the stat sheet in 26 minutes of play. Rice hit 4 of 10 from the floor but was able to get to the free throw line quite frequently hitting 14 of 16 from the charity stripe. Daniel Miller in his first exposure to NBA play was used sparingly logging 13 minutes and finished with four points and one assist.
Daniel Miller backed up former Kentucky Wildcats big man Daniel Orton who played 17 minutes and finished with four points and eight rebounds.
Rice’s outing was very productive and obviously Wizards Summer League Coach, Sam Cassell, has given Rice the green light and expects him to be aggressive. Rice was only outscored by former Georgetown Hoyas standout Otto Porter who finished with 25 points. Porter was taken No. 3 overall in last years NBA draft and is looking to increase his playing time going into 2015. Rice was taken with the fifth pick in the Second Round of that same 2013 draft.
Daniel Miller is simply getting his feet wet against potential NBA competition and he held his own in his first experience. Glen Rice Jr. has been to the show however, so he has an idea of what the coaches are expecting. Next up for Rice , Miller, and the rest of the Washington Wizards will be a matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves Sunday at 10:30 pm EST .
