Georgia Tech PGA Golf Stars set to take Swings at The Deutsche Bank BMW Championship

It is the second week of the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs and four former Georgia Tech golfers will be taking aim at The Deutsche Bank BMW Championship at TPC Boston.

The playoff field was cut down to the top 100 golfers in the Fed Ex Cup Point Standings after The Barclays last week in Paramus, New Jersey where Cameron Tringale fell a couple strokes short of the champion Hunter Mahan who shot 14-under-par for the tournament.

There were five Yellow Jackets in The Barclays field last week. However, this week there is only four Yellow Jackets in the field after Bryce Molder failed to make the top 100 in Fed Ex Points.

The Georgia Tech contingent is led by Matt Kuchar who is currently No. 4 in the Fed Ex Cup Point Standings. He finished tied for fifth at The Barclays after shooting 11-under-par last week.

Cameron Tringale leap frogged from 61st in Fed Ex Cup points to 10th entering The Deutsche Bank BMW Championship. Tringale would love to continue his hot play in Boston after a great showing at The Barclays.

Another Yellow Jacket that remains in the field is Stewart Cink , who jumped from 109th to 77th in the Fed Ex Cup Standings after shooting 4-under-par last week. Cink was up and down at The Barclays overall, but still did enough to qualify for TPC Boston.

Rounding out the Georgia Tech group is Chesson Hadley. Hadley is going to need to play strong the next four days in Boston in order to move on in the playoffs.

Hadley was the only golfer that actually moved backwards in the Fed Ex Cup Standings going from 72nd to 84th on the board.

The winner of The Deutsche Bank BMW Championship will take home $1.4 million of an $8 million purse and receive 2,500 Fed Ex Cup points.matt kuchar
