On June 9th, 2015 the world famous Rolling Stones will be making an appearance at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

This will mark the second time the band; Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood, would have played on the Flats.

Their previous appearance was in 1989 at a newly renamed and renovated Bobby Dodd Stadium at Grant Field.

The band is currently on tour-The Rolling Stones ZIP CODE Tour-and will be making stops in Orlando, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Raleigh (N.C.), Indianapolis, Detroit, Buffalo before concluding the tour in Quebec, Canada on July 15.

The Rolling Stones were last in Atlanta in 2006 at Phillips Arena while on their “A Bigger Bang Tour”.

From a personal perspective, I am looking forward to finally seeing them in person. Despite growing up in New York and attending college a few miles outside of Philadelphia, I had never made a true attempt to go see my second favorite band (after Fleetwood Mac) play live.

I moved here in July 2006 and missed their February 8th concert appearance at Phillips Arena. I plan on doing some reporting for the site-we are the all-things-Georgia Tech source so I plan on having something to write about post-concert.

Being honest, there’s only so much you can say about “Wild Horses”, “It’s Only Rock and Roll”, “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “Satisfaction” sung and played live on a stage in front of 100,000 plus screaming fans.

This will be the 10th concert held at Bobby Dodd Stadium since the first in 1974 by Yes.

Since then such acts as Aerosmith, Simon & Garfunkel, New Kids on the Block and Hootie and the Blowfish have graced the stage on the Flats to much fanfare.

And now without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, The Rolling Stones.
