The ACC released schedules for its teams on Wednesday afternoon, the Yellow Jackets will have two open dates and two big Thursday games with teams from the opposite side of the conference.

The Jackets start the year on August 29th against the defending national champions Clemson Tigers, in Death Valley on a Thursday night. This game is exciting for many reasons including the debut of the Geoff Collins era, and the first game of the new ACC Network.

Sept. 7th :Will be the first home game for the Jackets as they play host to USF in a rematch of the 49-38 loss from last season.

Sept. 14th: The Citadel comes to Bobby Dodd Stadium with an offense that will look familiar to most Georgia Tech Fans.

Sept. 28th: Following the first open week of the season, Georgia Tech head coach Geoff Collins will travel back to Philadelphia to face his former team the Temple Owls. This home and home agreement announced last season with Temple hosting the first matchup and Georgia Tech playing host in 2025. This will mark the first time that these teams have met in football.

More from Yellow Jacked Up

October 5th: The Yellow Jackets will play host to North Carolina and their new head coach Mack Brown in the first game of division play. Brown was hired by the Tar Heels this offseason after parting ways with Larry Fedora. Last season the Jackets beat the Tar Heels 38-28 in Chapel Hill.

Oct. 12th: We travel to Durham to try and break the curse that David Cutcliffe and Duke seem to hold over the Yellow Jackets. Lastly  years meeting in Atlanta was plagued by sloppy play on offense that led to a 28-14 Duke victory.

October 19th: the Jackets will face yet another new head coach in the ACC Coastal with Manny Diaz and the Miami Hurricanes. Interesting to note that Diaz had accepted the Temple job following the departure of Geoff Collins but backed out of the deal when Mark Richt announced his retirement at Miami. The Yellow Jackets played well against then defensive coordinator Manny Diaz last year beating the Hurricanes in a cold one in Atlanta 27-21.

November 2nd: Following the Miami game is another open date that leads to a November 2nd game against the Pitt Panthers the reigning ACC Coastal champions who Georgia Tech finished second to last season.

November 9th: The Jackets will travel to Charlottesville to face Bronco Mendenhall and UVA  who will be looking for some sort of bounceback following the overtime loss they suffered at the hands of a walk-on kicker last season in Atlanta.

November 16th: Will see a winning streak put on the line for Georgia Tech as they look to beat the Virginia Tech Hokies for the fourth time in four years.

November 21st: The dreaded short week happens to every team once a season and it happens at the end of ACC play for the Jackets as they play NC State on Thursday night at home. The last time that the Jackets played NC State was during the magical 2014 season where the Jackets compiled 2 defensive touchdowns on the way to a 56-23 win. That was a lifetime ago now and these teams will have new bragging rights to play for.

November 30th:  The final game of the season against rival Georgia in Clean Old Fashioned Hate as it is known and that title is well earned. The worst part of this rivalry right now is that Georgia Tech has not won this game in Atlanta in the new millennium. The last victory over georgia in Atlanta came in November of 1999. Every Tech win since then has been in Athens.

This should be an exciting schedule for the Yellow Jackets and new head coach Geoff Collins. One anomaly that many fans will notice is that no teams on the schedule have an open date before they Georgia Tech this season. Somewhere out there Paul Johnson is smoking a cigar and laughing.
