National Signing Day 2014: Five Georgia Tech Recruits Who Could Start in 2014

#3 – DB Lance Austin (Solid Verbal)

Lance is a 3-star Defensive Back from Griffin GA, who played at Lamar County High School, and has a twin brother, Lawrence, who has also committed to the Jackets. Like fellow recruit CJ Leggett, Austin’s height can be seen as a negative, but his 37” vertical jump makes up for his two inch disadvantage.

One of the skills that Austin has is his quick feet, which helps him change direction when he is running with a receiver. Austin is good at getting a jump on the ball and seems to know where the ball is going before it’s thrown. Lance is also an aggressive tackler and isn’t afraid to take, or give a hit.

Austin might not be a starter at cornerback, but with his talent, Coach Johnson could use him on special teams, or in nickel situations.
