The Reason Why Demaryius Thomas Has Not Signed a New Deal
The Denver Broncos are arguably the best team in football right now. They have the best record, the best quarterback and the best offense in the league.

They also have arguably the best wide receiver in football right now, Demaryius Thomas. Thomas in Denver’s 35-21 Thursday Night Football victory over the San Diego Chargers had eight catches for 105 yards.
He has really come on since the Broncos bye week in Week 4. He has been unstoppable and the Broncos offense seems to have an extra gear now that he is getting involved.
Thomas went into this season seeking a new deal that he and the Broncos front office were hoping to get done before the season started. That of course did not pan out.
As the season has progressed some people may have wondered why nothing has been done even to this point of the season. The answer actually makes sense.
The reason why Thomas has not signed a deal is because he is actually waiting to see what happens with Peyton Manning for next season.
Manning is playing in his 16th season in the NFL. There is a slight possibility that he may not be coming back next season. So with that possibility looming it is just smart business to hold off on a long commitment until you find out if you are going to play with the All-Time great quarterback next season.
Could you blame Thomas? He has seen his most productive seasons in his young career since Manning became the signal caller in “The Mile High City”.
The uncertainty of Manning’s future is also holding up negotiations for tight end Julius Thomas as well.
Not signing long term before the season can end up paying off big for Demaryius Thomas given he makes it out this season healthy.
He is reportedly looking for money in the $13-$15 million per season range. With the numbers he is putting up his going to be well worth it.
Contract talks stopped before the season kicked off, but there does not seem to be any bad blood between Thomas and the Broncos.
Manning seems to be the key domino that will make everything fall into place for Demaryius Thomas’ contract. Mannings’ decision could actually hinge on if the Broncos take home the Lombardi Trophy this year or not.
This upcoming offseason could be very interesting depending on what happens in Denver.
