It has been well-documented that Thomas is in the final year of his rookie contract, and that he will be looking for a major deal that will make him one of the highest paid receivers in the league.

The best way to protect that loot is to protect himself. So it is a pretty good idea for Thomas to sit out the 2015 Pro Bowl, and he is going to do just that.

The Denver Post reported  that he would have been going into the Pro Bowl with ankle and toe injuries.

So Thomas is going to be out, and Philadelphia Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin is going to be in.

Thomas is coming off of a 2014 season where he racked up 103 catches for 1,504 yards and 11 touchdowns.

He was bumped out of the playoffs by Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts last week, which has put the Denver Broncos in a state of flux.

The Broncos mutually parted ways with head coach John Fox, who is now the head coach of the Chicago Bears.

It is also up in the air whether or not Peyton Manning is going to return for his 18th NFL season.

Demaryius Thomas and Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant, are going to be the two players setting the market for wide receivers in the offseason.

Thomas will more than likely wait to see how much loot Bryant gets from Jerry Jones before he negotiates his deal.

But more importantly, he is going to see if Peyton Manning will stick around to play QB before he decides to re-up with the Broncos.

Thomas could be looking at a $16 million per year price tag this offseason, and you sure want to be healthy to spend that kind of cheddar.

Not playing in the Pro Bowl and worrying about your health is the best way to protect that price tag.

It is just going to be interesting to see where Thomas is going to be getting his next check cut from.
