Georgia Tech Basketball: Yellow Jackets Get Crushed on Senior Night by North Carolina

This game was as this whole season has been for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (12-18, 3-15 ACC) — dismal!

The North Carolina Tar Heels (21-9, 11-6 ACC) worked the Yellow Jackets much the same way that they did when the two team met in Chapel Hill, but this time by a score of 81-49 on Georgia Tech’s Senior Day.

The Jackets fell behind the “eight ball” rather quickly with Marcus Georges-Hunt getting hurt within the first five minutes if the game. From there the snowball just gained momentum.

The Tar Heels took care of business, holding Georgia Tech to 32% shooting from the floor and 1 of 16 from beyond the arc, while UNC shot 53% from the floor and hit 6 of 18 treys.

UNC had 10 players score in the contest led by Joel Berry II who had 15 points and Justin Jackson who had 13 points and five rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Charles Mitchell who had 16 points and eight rebounds.

Demarco Cox chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds and Tadric Jackson finished with nine points and seven boards.

Now that this abysmal ACC Season has officially come to an end, it is time to watch the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets take their shots in the ACC Tournament.

Things were already going to be difficult for this squad given their performance this season, but if Marcus Georges-Hunt is not available, the difficulty level has risen.

The Yellow Jackets will have a week to prepare for the ACC Tournament which starts March 10th in Greensboro.
