Since being drafted out of Georgia Tech, Morgan has spent all five of his NFL seasons in Tennessee.

But reports are that when the NFL free agency market opens up on March 10th the Titans are going to part ways with Morgan and he is going to be able to explore his options.

In an article by Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean, Morgan spoke about how he feels about his potential free agency and how he is handling the moment:

All of this is a new experience for me, so I am not getting caught up in the hype and free agency. At the end of the day, it is about playing football. If that’s with the Titans, then great. But if I feel like it might be somewhere else, that’s also good. I am just taking it day by day. Right now, I don’t know what’s in store for me.”

It is not like Tennessee isn’t a viable option f0r Derrick Morgan. The uncertainty comes from the direction that Ken Whisenhunt and new assistant coach Dick LeBeau want to go in regards to rebuilding one of the leagues’ worst defenses.

There have been reports that the Titans wanted to resign Morgan and that he was a priority, but the intensity of the negotiations is not reflective of that sentiment.

Even though Tennessee’s level of priority as it pertains to resigning Morgan is in question, his priorities are pretty clear after participating with a struggling team the past five seasons.

Morgan was quoted as saying this in a Yardbarker post :

“My biggest thing is I want to win. I have been losing for five years and I want to win. If I feel like that’s a good chance in Tennessee, it would be an option for me to stay. But I have to do what is right for me and my family at the end of the day.”

Now to be fair, Morgan has changed agents and according to the Yardbarker post that could be why talks between the Titans and the linebacker have slowed down.

With Morgan coming off of a season where he recorded 63 tackles and a team high 6.5 sacks, there are going to be teams that will be interested in his services.

There are rumors that the Atlanta Falcons could be interested in bringing Morgan back to the city where he spent his college days  according to scouts.com’s NFL Network post.

What makes the potential interest of the Falcons so intriguing is that ATL parted ways with defensive end Jonathan Massaquoi who coincidentally was picked up off the waiver wire by the Tennessee Titans.

The Miami Dolphins have also been rumored to be interested in Morgan.

Whether Morgan is still in Tennessee in 2015 or not, what we do know is he is going to be playing in the league and getting a check because of his versatility. He is able to either play outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense or defensive end in a 4-3 defense.

The city where he is going to be receiving his direct deposits remains to be seen.
