No. 5 Safety Isaiah Johnson

I actually expect to hear Isaiah Johnson’s name called in the draft. It is well known that that this draft is not deep at the safety position but in my world Johnson is one of the better safeties in this draft.

What has always impressed me about Isaiah Johnson is that he is really good around the line of scrimmage against the run and is an underrated hitter.

There were a few games where Johnson delivered some hits on ball carriers that made you sit up on your sofa and say “who is this guy?”.

There was a rumor that he was getting attention from the Houston Texans which makes sense since Bill O’Brien was an assistant with Georgia Tech not too long ago.

At 6-foot-1, 202 pounds, Johnson has good size for the safety position and under the right coaching staff should be able to play and stick in the league.

If he shows that he is able to take care of business in pass coverage and not get beat over the top by savvy NFL quarterbacks he will be fine.

Pass coverage is the thing that people will see as a concern going forward.

Johnson should hear his name called somewhere in Round 6 or Round 7.
