Georgia Tech Baseball: Yellow Jackets 2017 Season Preview

1 of 4

After losing in the regional round of the NCAA Baseball Tournament to end the 2016 season, Danny Hall’s Georgia Tech baseball team will host Brigham Young on February 17 for first pitch of a challenging 2017 schedule.

Georgia Tech is picked to finish fourth in the 2017 ACC Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll, and Danny Hall’s Jackets will be looking to prove that assessment wrong.

With a pair of pre-season All-Americans and a highly rated incoming recruiting class, another NCAA Tournament appearance and a solid Atlantic Coast Conference record shouldn’t be considered unreasonable goals for these Jackets.

After breaking a seven year streak of NCAA tournament appearances by falling short in 2015, the 2016 Georgia Tech team got back, losing in the Gainesville Regional Finals to Florida.

Prior to their NCAA tournament appearance, the Jackets beat Boston College 6-0 in an ACC tournament play-in game, but then went 0-3 in the tournament, losing to Miami, Florida State, and North Carolina State.

Tech went 23-11 at home, 11-9 on the road, and 4-5 in neutral site games. The Yellow Jackets also posted a 9-3 record versus other teams from Georgia.
