Georgia Tech Baseball: Jackets Beat UNC 4-2 With Walk-off HR in 12th
The Yellow Jackets needed extra innings to pull it off, but Tech walked it off at Russ Chandler against the top-10 ranked Tar Heels.
Georgia Tech (12-5) hosted ACC foe North Carolina (14-5) Saturday, in a game that took a dozen innings to decide.
The Tar Heels came into the game ranked No. 9 in the nation, and in the end it was a walk-off two-run homer in the 12th inning from junior first baseman Kel Johnson that gave the Yellow Jackets a 4-2 win, and moved Tech to 2-3 in ACC play.
Carolina beat Tech 6-5 on Friday when the Jackets fell short in a comeback effort, but on Saturday the bullpen held it together late, and clutch hitting put Danny Hall’s squad over the hump.
Jonathan Hughes went four innings on the mound for the Jackets, striking out three and giving up an earned run. The last eight innings were picked up by the bullpen.

On offense, Wade Bailey came through big for Tech, going 2-for-5 with a pair of runs, along with a walk and an RBI. Trevor Craport, who got on base for the 17th straight game this season, drove in a run as well.
North Carolina’s runs came off the bats of left fielder Tyler Lynn, and first baseman Michael Busch who each had an RBI.
The Jackets and Heels face off again on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the rubber game to decide the series.
