The Yellow Jackets will play a “road game” at cross-town rival Georgia State on Wednesday evening, looking to carry momentum from their big win over Mercer.

Georgia Tech (17-18, 4-14 ACC) ended a seven-game losing streak Tuesday night with an 8-5 win over in-state Mercer at home, and will travel a short distance to face Georgia State (13-22, 3-12 Sun Belt) Wednesday night.
The Panthers are 9-10 at home so far this season, while the Jackets hold a road record of 5-8. Tech beat State 12-5 at Russ Chandler Stadium back in late February.
Probably starters in the matchup are RHP Bryan White (0-2) for Georgia State versus RHP Ben Schniederjans (1-3) for Tech.

In the all-time series, Georgia Tech has a big 64-10 edge over its cross-town rival, with the first matchup back in 1971. The two teams have squared off at least once each season since 1992. State hasn’t won a game over Tech since the 2012 season.
Georgia Tech’s sophomore catcher Joey Bart has 11 home runs on the season already. He’s tied with junior outfielder Kel Johnson with 33 runs batted in, as the duo make up a bulk of the Jackets offense.
For the Panthers, Ryan Blanton leads his team in both homers(6) and RBI (24) as well. Starter Bryan White has given up 20 runs on 16 hits in just 20.1 innings pitched, and there are some high ERA’s in State’s bullpen.
Wednesday night’s game has the potential to be another offensive boost for the Yellow Jackets, and might be a good chance to continue a successful in-state run this season.
