George Tech Football: Looking at each Georgia Tech’s draft prospects chances
DT Patrick Gamble
Gamble was one of two Yellow Jackets to visit the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. Gamble was had a pretty productive and strong senior season but his first three seasons were quite unproductive. His 53 tackles in his senior season equated to 43.4% of his career tackles at Georgia Tech.
One major thing that is holding Gamble back is his size. At 6-foot-5 and 277-pounds, Gamble needs another 10-20 pounds. If a team drafts Gamble, he will most likely end up on a team’s practice squad for a year or two as they hope to develop him more or potentially transition him into an offensive lineman where his 6-foot-5 stature is considered the perfect size for an offensive lineman.
The NFL.com draft tracker gave Gamble a 5.10 which means that the player is a back end of the roster type player.
Final Prediction: 7th round / Undrafted Free Agent – Gamble is one of the Jackets best chances to get drafted this weekend. If Gamble does get selected he’ll be a late day three selection, most likely going late in the sixth round or the sometime during the seventh.
