No. 3: Georgia Tech vs Virginia Tech – 2009

In 2009, Georgia Tech started the season ranked No. 15, but a loss on the road at Miami bumped the Jackets out of the polls. Having bounced back to No. 19, the 5-1 Yellow Jackets hosted the No. 4 Hokies in the annual “Battle of the Techs.”

Up 21-10 at the end of the third quarter, the Jackets let Virginia Tech back in it with a 13-7 fourth quarter, but limited Tyrod Taylor and the Hokies offense to 342 total yards in the game, and held on for a 28-23 win.

Josh Nesbitt put the finishing touches on the game for the Tech offense with a 33-yard touchdown. It was his third of the game.

After the game, the crowd rushed the field and eventually delivered the goal posts down the street to the lawn of Georgia Tech President Bud Peterson.
