Georgia Tech Football 2017 player preview: #2 WR Ricky Jeune
The second 2017 player preview is that of redshirt senior wide receiver, #2 Ricky Jeune.
Entering the 2017 season, the Georgia Tech football team will feature seven redshirt seniors. The redshirt senior with the biggest impact so far has been #2 Ricky Jeune.
Jeune was recruited moderately coming out of high school, receiving seven offers. The Montvale, NJ native came out of St. Joseph Regional, one of the best high schools for producing talent in the Garden State.
Jeune was a late commitment in the class of 2013, committing to the Yellow Jackets in January of 2013. Tech was the only visit that Jeune took in his recruitment, which took place two days before his commitment. He was the 113th ranked wide receiver coming out of high school.

Over Jeune’s first two seasons on The Flats, he recorded no stats. His true freshman season saw the New Jersey native redshirt while he only saw time on special teams and late-game series in 2014 according to his Georgia Tech profile.
In 2015, Jeune finally hit the field and saw solid playing time, making all 12 starts. Jeune saw a limited impact through the first three games, with three receptions for 40-yards. He would then have big games against Duke, Clemson, and Virginia. The Virginia game saw Jeune have a then career-high five receptions, 103-yards. He finished his redshirt sophomore season with 24-receptions, 520-yards, and four touchdowns. He finished the season as the Jackets leader in receptions, yards, and touchdowns.
Last season for the Yellow Jackets, Jeune saw time in all 12 games but only recorded stats in 10 of 12 games. Jeune started off the season hot, with six receptions and 102-yards against Boston College and Mercer. He also had a tremendous day against Duke with three receptions and 85-yards. He recorded his only touchdown that season against Pittsburgh. Jeune’s numbers were good enough to make him the Jackets top receiver and their second best-receiving target overall only behind Clifton Lynch.
What to expect in 2017:
Entering 2017, Jeune should remain the Jackets top receiver in 2017 though his numbers may see another dip as none of the Jackets quarterbacks are as polished passers as Justin Thomas.
Jeune still remains the Jackets best receiver talent wise and has been a solid and reliable blocker. Like any Georgia Tech receiver, he’s not going to put up phenomenal numbers in a Paul Johnson offense but he will be reliable when turned to.
Jeune will probably see around 20 receptions for 350-400-yards and potentialyl a handful of touchdowns at most. When it comes to blocking, Jeune should be one of the Jackets better blockers, which could see a strong shift of plays going to Jeune’s side.
With all that being said, Jeune is one of the oldest players on the Jackets offense and should be a leader for an offense that will be lead by a first-year starter.
