Georgia Tech Football: Jackets await top lists for two top targets
Georgia Tech is hoping to land in two more top ten lists in the upcoming days for two of the program’s top targets.
Over the course of the last few week and a half, Georgia Tech has been landing in recruiting lists for several of their top prospects. Here are the last four recruits to put the Jackets in their narrowed down lists.
This week, the Jackets are hoping to add two more names to that list in quarterback Michael Barrett and RB Malcolm Davidson.
QB Michael Barrett:
The 5-foot-11, 207-pound dual threat quarterback from Valdosta is an interesting case when it comes to recruitment. The Georgia native now has 19 scholarship offers and there are probably more coming for the rising athlete.
For Georgia Tech, Barrett is most likely being recruited as a quarterback but other teams such as Michigan and LSU may be looking to put Barrett in a defensive role. While Barrett has the chance to be a game-changing quarterback in the right system, teams like Michigan and LSU are constantly working to bring in four and five-star quarterbacks.
That being said, ultimately, Barrett’s decision will come down to if he would rather play offense or defense at the next level.
Top 10 prediction (No order):
- Georgia Tech
- Michigan
- LSU
- Tennessee
- West Virginia
- North Carolina
- USF
- Maryland
- UCONN
- South Carolina
Barrett told Rivals last week that the three schools that have been standing out to him recently are Michigan, LSU, and Tennessee. Losing out on Barrett would be a hard pill to swallow for Georgia Tech, but the main priority right now is to land in his top ten.
RB Malcolm Davidson:
Between Barrett and Davidson, the latter feels like the more likely to ultimately end up at Georgia Tech. The Jackets offered Davidson back in April and it appears that Tech is one school Davidson really has got a feeling for so far in his recruitment.
That being said, Davidson has amassed 20 total offers including one recently from Rutgers. Davidson would be a great fit for Tech especially when considering his high school runs an option offense. With his experience in an option offense, the Jackets could very well be pitching the idea of early playing time for Davidson.
Davidson has a tremendous motor and speed but doesn’t shy away from contact either. He is a running back that could be a game changer quite like Dedrick Mills was last season and should be going forward.
There won’t be any top ten predictions since Davidson didn’t specify the number of schools he’s narrowing his list down to but expect to see Georgia Tech on that list as long as Virginia Tech who Davidson was looking into back in March.
