Georgia Tech Football: Four key matchups for the 2017 season
Nov. 25 – Georgia Bulldogs
The game against that team over in Athens sometimes ends up not meaning much to Georgia Tech on paper in terms of championships and bowl bids, but it’s always there just sticking out like a blister that needs popping.
Much like Tennessee’s loss to Vanderbilt last season, had Tech lost their finale to the Bulldogs, it would have just… felt bad. UGA hasn’t been a conference game for Tech since 1963, but the game’s importance has never faded.
Next: Tech to move on from Russell Athletics following 2018
If either team needs a boost in the rankings for a College Football Playoff bid, or a bowl improvement, this game is a must win. That’s not even taking into account how good it feels for Georgia Tech players, fans and coaches to take down their in-state arch-rival.
Even when it technically doesn’t matter… Clean Old-Fashioned Hate ALWAYS matters.
