The 2012 season kicked off with a very disappointing 17-20 OT loss to conference rival, Virginia Tech. The team actually looked pretty good though, so there was still hope for a good year – but it didn’t last long.

Following the loss, Georgia Tech had a real chance to get back on their feet with four straight home games but was only able to go 2-2 in the stretch. The worst part about it? In the last game of the four-game streak at Bobby Dodd Stadium, Middle Tennessee came to Atlanta and beat Georgia Tech – and it wasn’t close. The Blue Raiders marched into Bobby Dodd and completely took the life out of the players en route to a 49-28 win over the Jackets.

The regular season came to an end with an absolute whooping at the hands of the red team from Athens. It was easily Georgia’s best season in recent years, but I don’t ever want to see my team lose 42-10 to them ever again – and I definitely don’t want to see them lose to Middle Tennessee again.

The 2012 Yellow Jackets did somehow manage to win the ACC Coastal but lost the Championship game in a close one to Florida State. It wasn’t all bad, though. Georgia Tech made the most of their last game of the season when a trip to El Paso for the Sun Bowl resulted in a dominant 21-7 win over USC. The team finished 7-7.
