Alabama (21-28-3)

Perhaps, you have noticed a trend here with SEC teams.

At first glance, Tech’s all-time record against the Crimson Tide is not bad at all. The Jackets have faced the Tide 52 times and have taken 21 while only dropping 28. The two schools have failed to meet since 1984 and were set to play in 2019 and 2020 but was postponed after being pushed back from 2013 and 2014.

In that 1984 meeting, the Yellow Jackets defeated the Crimson Tide 16-6 after losing the two prior seasons. The majority of the 52 games between the two programs took place during Georgia Tech’s time in the SEC which ended in 1964. From 1922 to 1964, the two programs met 38 times with the Crimson Tide winning 22 times, giving them a majority of their 28 victories.

Since Tech left the SEC, the two programs met six times from 1979 to 1984. At what one point, the Crimson Tide was one of the Jackets biggest rivals, now the rivalry is beyond dead and any rivalry is nearly impossible barring anything drastic.

During the 52-game series, the longest winning streak was five games which Alabama had from 1933 to 1937. The Jacket’s longest winning streak was from 1954 to 1957, a four-game winning streak. The only question remaining is when is the next time these two old rivals will face each other on the gridiron.
