Georgia Tech will announce a new apparel deal with Adidas on Tuesday according to reports.

On Monday evening, the Georgia Tech athletics account sent out the following tweet that left Yellow Jacket fans around the country wondering what will be announced on Tuesday.

After a short while, it revealed that Georgia Tech and Adidas have come to an apparel deal starting in the 2018-19 school year.

Earlier this summer, it was revealed that Tech would unsurprisingly be leaving a long time apparel supplier Russell Athletic. It was the latest drop for Russell Athletic who’s brand is slowly dying at least when it comes to their exposure at a national level.

In 2015, there were 31 schools that wore Adidas supplied uniforms according to FootballScoop.com. Tech will become the joining Louisville, Miami, and NC State as the other ACC members who are sponsored by the Germany based company. Other notable non-ACC programs that are in contract agreements with Adidas includes Arizona State and Nebraska just to name a pair.

While Adidas is not Under Armour or Nike, it is a great improvement over that of Russell Athletic. It’s also safe to say that players and fans alike are excited about the future threads that Yellow Jacket athletics will be wearing this time next year.

For Georgia Tech, the new apparel deal is one of the first major tasks that was on the mind of athletic director Todd Stansbury. Stansbury, who became the official Georgia Tech athletic director last November wanted to define the Georgia Tech brand and to establish a new culture of Georgia Tech athletics.

Less than a year later, Stansbury has taken a big step towards fulfilling both of those goals. While uniforms won’t win a team any games, they have been proven to play parts in recruitment and create a higher amount of excitement regarding a team or upcoming game.
