Georgia Tech quarterback TaQuon Marshall was awarded by the ACC for his outstanding performance on Monday night.
The ACC announced its Players of the Week for week one of the college football season and for the first time this season, a Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket has brought home one of the honors.
On Tuesday, the ACC announced that Georgia Tech starting quarterback TaQuon Marshall won the honor for quarterbacks and running backs. For those who watched Monday night’s thriller between the Jackets and Tennessee Volunteers, it’s not shocking that Marshall was awarded for his efforts. After all, it was the TaQuon Marshall show.
All Marshall did on Tuesday night was terrorize the Tennessee defense as he accounted for 369 total yards and five touchdowns. The junior quarterback made up for less than impressive drives to open up the game by accounting for 30 of the Jackets 41 points.

Throughout the game, Marshall showed off his abilities to beat defenses on the ground (44 carries, 249 yards) and through the air (5-for-9, 120 yds). He simply made it look like a video game at times, juking out Tennessee defenders left and right.
While the Yellow Jackets ultimately lost the double overtime thriller, it has officially been declared TaQuon Marshall’s coming out party. For what was a question mark all offseason, Marshall’s performance on Monday was a godsend for Paul Johnson’s staff and will allow the offense to move forward at full capacity.
If the Yellow Jackets defense can pull themselves together as the season goes on, the Yellow Jackets could be in a great spot to make a run for the ACC Coastal crown.
