Jacksonville State Defensive Preview:

Jacksonville State’s defense should be respected by all means. The past two seasons, the Gamecocks defense has gone up against ranked teams in Auburn and LSU. Auburn only garnered 401-yards of offense while LSU had 371-yards.

As a whole, Jacksonville State held opponents to just 18 points per game last season and kept Chattanooga to 13, an offense that a year ago put up 30 or more points in eight games. That being said, going off last year’s stats and their performance against Chattanooga, Jacksonville State is one of the best rushing defenses in the FCS. Last year, the Gamecocks gave up an average of 89-yards of rushing per game.

While the Yellow Jackets will most definitely find a way to beat the Gamecocks defense on the ground, it will be an interesting matchup to watch on Saturday. That being said, TaQuon Marshall on Monday proved that if the Yellow Jackets need him to throw the ball, he has the ability to make a wide-range of throws.

It’s a strong defense but if Monday night’s game was any indication, it will be hard for any team to contain the Yellow Jackets offense this season.
