On a relative note, ESPN’s Future Power Index (FPI) gives the Yellow Jackets a 66.5% chance to win on Saturday.

Last year, the Yellow Jackets were demolished on the road by the then 21st ranked Tar Heels, 48-20. In that game, the Jackets turned over the ball twice and gave up over 600-yards of offense. That being said, much of the Tar Heel’s firepower from a year ago is now gone including first-round draft pick Mitch Trubisky.

The Tar Heels, unlike the Yellow Jackets, are coming off a loss, a 27-17 defeat at the hands of Duke. The 10 point loss moved the Tar Heels record to 1-3 on the season in what could end up being a long season for Larry Fedora.

The Tar Heels offense hasn’t missed much of a beat so far in 2017, averaging 33.8 points and over 400-yards of offense. Quarterback Chazz Surratt, a redshirt freshman has thrown for 847-yards and five touchdowns so far this season. While the Tar Heels offense has succeeded through the air, their rushing game has struggled this season, averaging just 151 yards a game. The Tar Heels passing game against Georgia Tech’s secondary will be a matchup to watch. Defensively, North Carolina surrendered 33.0 points per game and 470-yards of offense per game.

Paul Johnson’s Yellow Jackets on Saturday will be looking for their first victory over the Tar Heels since 2013, losing each of the last three affairs.
