Georgia Tech Football: Jackets inching closer to AP Top 25
The Georgia Tech football team is inching their way towards the top 25.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets received a total of 39 votes in Sunday’s week seven poll. Despite the bye week, the Georgia Tech football team is inching closer to being in the AP top 25 for the first time since 2015 when they were ranked 20th. The Jackets lost back-to-back games in week four and five of 2015 to Notre Dame and Duke. With coming up short on Sunday, the Jackets haven’t been ranked in the AP Top 25 for 34 consecutive weeks.

The Yellow Jackets are coming off their lone bye week of the season after defeating the North Carolina Tar Heel 33-7. For the Jackets, cracking the top 25 won’t be an easy task as they travel to Miami to take on the #11th ranked Miami Hurricanes on Saturday.
The Hurricane are coming off an extremely emotional 24-20 win over the Florida State Seminoles on the final drive of the game. With the win, Miami is 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in conference play with wins over Duke and Florida State. The two conference wins ties the Hurricane with the Jackets for first in the Coastal Division.
Currently, ESPN’s FPI gives the Hurricanes a 73.9% chance of victory next weekend over the Yellow Jackets. On a similar note, ESPN’s FPI has the Yellow Jackets as the favorite in four of their last seven games. They’re currently underdogs to Miami, Clemson, and Georgia.
With that being said, Saturday’s showdown between the Jackets and the Hurricanes is set up to be one of the most important games of the season in the ACC and will be a deciding factor in a tight ACC Coastal race.
