Georgia Tech Football vs Virginia 2017: Four players that will decide the game
QB Kurt Benkert – Virginia
Kurt Benkert isn’t the type of quarterback that strikes fear into the opposition at just the sound of his name but the East Carolina transfer has turned into a quality quarterback for the Cavaliers.
After having an adequate junior season a year ago for the Cavaliers, Benkert has been a much smarter and better quarterback overall in 2017. Through Virginia’s first eight games, Benkert has thrown just five interceptions while throwing for 17-touchdowns.
That being said, Benkert will not a be a deep threat for the most part on Saturday as his average yards per attempt sits around the seven-yard mark. The Cavaliers short passing game compliments their run game which when successful makes Virginia hard to beat.
Benkert has thrown interceptions in his last two games but is only averaging an interception every 64 attempts. Expect the senior signal caller to play a smart and game manager like game on Saturday.
If Benkert limits any possibility of turnovers on Saturday, he’ll put the Cavaliers in a good spot to win.
