Player #3: Virginia Tech WR Cam Phillips

When Hokies quarterback Josh Jackson drops back to pass, there’s a pretty good chance he’s looking the way of senior wideout Cam Phillips. Out of Jackson’s 169 completions this season, 34.3% of them have been completed by Phillips.

In total this season, Phillips has 58 receptions for 793-yards and six touchdowns. For a while this season, Phillips was leading the country in receiving yards before slowing down the past few weeks.

After starting off the season with three, one-hundred-yard receiving games in the Hokies first four games, he has just one in the last five weeks. In the first three games he also had five touchdowns but has just one since then.  Last week against Miami, Phillips brought in seven receptions for 101-yards.

Phillips has already eclipsed a career in high in touchdowns and is on pace or career highs in receptions, receiving yards, and average reception yards. The Jackets secondary at times has been soft this season and with Phillips coming off his best game in a month, they will have to watch out for a confident Phillips who has the speed and skill set to burn the Jackets secondary when making the slightest mistake.
