Georgia Tech basketball must use their extended break to regroup physically and mentally after three-straight losses.

By the time Georgia Tech Basketball takes on Florida A&M on Sunday afternoon, it will be almost two weeks since they last played a game. That last game was a 63-60 loss to Wofford, the Jackets third straight loss. The Jackets also fell to Grambling State and Tennessee during the streak.

The good news for the Jackets is that the extended break in between games will allow the Jackets to regroup both emotionally, mentally, and physically. It’s safe to say that the Jackets had to exhausted in all three facets following three-straight close losses.

Emotionally, the Jackets’ have a right to be exhausted with the three losses. Thre straight losses including two by three points or less would emotionally drain any team. After their loss to Grambling State due to an own-basket, the Jackets would have already lost a ton emotionally. The Jackets must reset their emotions and get back to winning basketball. Of course, to be emotionally right, the team has to be mentally right.

Mentally, the Jackets made a ton of mistakes over their three losses that played a huge role in their three losses. The best thing for the Jackets after their three straight losses was to reset their mental state and regroup for the rest of their non-conference schedule. A healthy mindset can do wonders for a team struggling.

Physically, the Jackets team was ailing. After eight games, almost everyone will have at least some bumps and bruises. Of course, the two biggest injury notes is Josh Okogie’s finger and Ben Lammers’ ankle injury that has limited him over the past few games. While Okogie will most likely be out until the end of the month, almost two weeks off will allow Lammers’ ankle to fully heal. Even a healthy Lammers will make a ton of differences on both sides of the ball for the Jackets.

The Jackets after their three-game losing streak needed a break, it could be seen from a mile away. They lost to two teams they never should have been close to losing to but yet they did. It was a setback that neither Josh Pastner, his coaching staff, and the team never expected.

That being said, just eight games into the season, there is still a ton of game left to play. While it will be an uphill climb from here, the Jackets still have what it takes to make a run at the NCAA Tournament once they return to the court.
