Georgia Tech Football Early Enrollee Profile: OG Mike Maye
OG Mike Maye will officially join the Georgia Tech Football program on Wednesday when he signs his letter of intent.
Alabama native Mike Maye signed his letter of intent on Wednesday, officially making him a member of the Georgia Tech Football program. The three-star offensive guard is considered a top 1,500 prospect and the 62nd ranked offensive guard in the country. He played in this year’s Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game for Team Alabama.
At 6-foot-3, 295-pounds is already one of the Jacket biggest offensive linemen joining sophomore Connor Hansen and junior Kenny Cooper.
Maye as a prospect obviously has good size for an offensive lineman but he does come with his deficiencies. In his highlight films, Maye appears to have rather slow feet and his techniques are certainly not the greatest. He will have plenty of work to do once he gets on campus. Maye is most likely looking like a scout team offensive lineman his first seasons but could turn into a quality depth piece for the Jackets.
Recruitment Overview:
Maye collected a good amount of scholarship offers but a majority of those came from Group of Five and FCS programs. The only Power of Five prorgam to offer Maye was, in fact, the Yellow Jackets. Notable Group of Five programs that offered Maye includes
- Arkansas State
- Florida Atlantic
- Middle Tennessee State
- Navy
- Southern Miss
- Troy
- Tulane
- UCF
- Western Kentucky
Overall, he collected 19 scholarship offers over the course of his recruitment. Maye has been a member of the Jackets 2018 recruiting class for a while now, committing to the program at the end of this past July. Ever since his commitment, he has been a stayed true to his word.
