After falling under .500 with a pair of disappointing losses to rival Georgia and Wright State, the Yellow Jackets got back on track Wednesday night.

Georgia Tech (6-6) got a much needed win versus Coppin State out of the MEAC, using a strong second half push to prevail 76-62.

The Jackets actually trailed 33-30 at the halfway point, but came on strong down the stretch. That clutch effort included a huge night from big man Ben Lammers, who put up 22 points, snagged 11 rebounds and had six blocks.

Coppin State had three players in double digits and saw all but one of its ten players score. Tech, on the other hand, suited only eight players and all of them scored.

Of note the Jackets, Jose Alvarado exited early after 22 minutes of playing time Wednesday night after taking an elbow to the head. Though he did not return, Alvarado seemed alert and in good spirits on the bench throughout the rest of the game. He had eight points, three rebounds and a steal in the injury shortened effort.

Other notable performances for the Yellow Jackets included solid nights from Tadric Jackson and Josh Okogie. Jackson had 17 points, nine rebounds and three assists, while Okogie posted 13 points and six rebounds.

Brandon Alston rounded out the double-digit performances with an even 10 points of his own.

Tech shot 20-of-21 on free throws, and shot over 46 percent from the field. The Jackets also shot 40 percent from beyond the arc and won the total rebounds battle 41 to 24. Coppin State got the best of the Yellow Jackets on turnovers, only giving up four, while Tech gave the basketball away six times.
