If you couldn’t tell by now, Georgia Tech baseball’s Joey Bart is becoming of the most notable players in all of the nation.

On Tuesday, Georgia Tech baseball star Joey Bart was named another preseason All-American teams. This time, the prestigious baseball scouting company, Perfect Game awarded Bart as a first-team selection.

Bart’s inclusion on PG’s All-American team comes to no surprise as the Georgia native is considered one of the top draft prospects for this year’s MLB Draft. He’s also considered one of the top, if not the top catching prospects available. Earlier this winter, Bart was named to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper’s 2018 Preseason All-American team as well. Teammate and senior infielder Wade Bailey was also named to an All-American team by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Bart is entering his junior season for the Yellow Jackets after having a breakout sophomore season. Bart played in 44 games for the Jackets in 2017, and gathered a .296/.370/.575 slash to go along with 13 home runs and 43 RBI. While he did miss 11 games down the stretch of the season due to injury, Bart was easily the Jackets offensive MVP last season.

Bart’s junior season will ultimately dictate where the rising backstop lands come June. If he follows up his great sophomore season with another strong performance, he could end up being an early to mid first round pick. If he struggles immensely, his draft stock could plummet. That being said, scouts salivate when they watch Bart.

Bart provides a great amount of power with ease which is hard to come by at such a premium position. His fielding and arm have only gotten better over time and with a lot of room to grow, he could turn into an organization’s top prospect rather rapidly. But only time will tell when it comes to Bart’s future.

The Yellow Jackets and Joey Bart will open up their 2018 campaign next month at home with the “Atlanta Challenge” which will bring in Minnesota (16th), Bradley (17th), and UConn (18th). The Jackets won’t leave the state of Georgia until March 9th and will be at home for 10 of their first 11 games, only traveling to Georgia Southern in the process.
