The Yellow Jackets dropped their second straight game on Saturday, losing 80-66 to the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Despite having four scorers in double-digits, the Georgia Tech men’s basketball team dropped their second-straight game on Saturday, losing to the 15th ranked North Carolina Tar Heels  80-66.

Josh Okogie bounced back after his eight-point performance against Virginia, scoring 18-points while freshman point guard Jose Alvarado dropped 17 of his own. As a team, the Jackets shot 48% from the field making 29 of 60 shots while shooting 27.8% from three-point range. Both numbers were better than the Tar Heel percentages of 42% and 23.8%

The Jackets did not lose, to say the least, because of their offensive performance. Where the game was decided however was at the foul line and on the boards.

The Jackets for the game had just six free throws, they made three of those six as North Carolina was called for just 12 personal fouls. The Tar Heels, on the other hand, were benefited from 23 personal fouls, resulting in 24 free throws, making 19.

While the refereeing on Saturday was questionable at times, to say the least, the one place the Jackets can’t blame the refs for is rebounding. The Jackets were severely outrebounded throughout the game on Saturday, losing the battle 46-26.

The Tar Heels were able to grab 19 offensive rebounds, resulting in 26 second-chance points. The Jackets, however, were able to grab just nine offensive rebounds. Ben Lammers, usually the Jackets best rebounder had just four rebounds on the day. Okogie leads the Jackets with seven.
