In his first piece for Yellow Jacked Up, brand new contributor Lee Cagle discusses his trust in  Todd Stansbury  and how he is changing the culture of Georgia Tech athletics.

Since his introduction to the Georgia Tech fan base as the new Athletic Director in September of 2016, Todd Stansbury has breathed a new life into the athletics department at Georgia Tech.

Stansbury, a Tech grad, and student-athlete himself had been around the country in the banking industry and the athletic departments of several major institutions like Oregon State and UCF.

In his first year and a half on the Flats, Stansbury has achieved a great number of milestones for the athletic department including the securing of a new apparel deal with Adidas and securing funding for locker room improvements and a brand-new recruiting staff for the football program.

These improvements will serve as a major step forward in the culture of Georgia Tech Athletics and certainly in my mid signal a shift in attitude for the fan base. The past several years of major sports teams at Tech have seen mighty highs and lows that would be devastating to other fanbases.

The good news is that Stansbury and his administration seem committed to helping turn these seemingly low points into simple bumps in the road to success. Stansbury has demonstrated by the use of new technology, such as the shot tracker system used by the basketball program, that the cutting-edge technological advances that the incredible research of the students at Georgia Tech can also be used to make better athletes. This is an obvious benefit to both parts of the amazing culture that is Georgia Tech.

Stansbury has also forged a massive media presence that I have never seen out of an athletic director before. His media presence spreads the word about the advances of Georgia Tech sports and does his best to engage the fan base through social media in both podcasts and on Twitter.

What I have seen of Todd Stansbury and his efforts for Georgia Tech are nothing short of extraordinary. His style of leadership and enthusiasm that he brings to the department is exactly what the fan base needs now. I believe he has the ability to truly change the culture and the expectations that we all have for the Jackets going into the future.
