The countdown to football at Bobby Dodd is officially on as the Georgia Tech athletic department announced Monday that the 2018 Spring game will be played on April 20th.

In just 60 days, there will be football at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium, the Georgia Tech football team will be playing their annual spring game on April 20th at 7 p.m according to the Georgia Tech athletic department.

The Jackets are coming off a disappointing 2017 season that saw the program finish with 5-6 record including a 4-4 record in ACC play. Despite being competitive in many of their losses, the Jackets were unable to close out games in the 4th quarter, squandering many opportunities throughout the season.

The 2017 season however showed a ton of promise for the future of the Tech football program. In 2018, the expectations will be high for the Jackets on both sides of the ball after bringing in one of the best recruiting classes in Paul Johnson’s tenure.

Senior TaQuon Marshall will lead the Jackets offense after being the starter last season. Marshall put together a quality season for a first year starter but let much to be desired. That being said, he’ll help lead a Jackets offense that will surely be dangerous if they can play clean football.

Defensively, expectations will be high despite a new face at the defensive coordinator position. With former defensive coordinator Ted Roof now at NC State, former Appalachian State defensive coordinator Nate Woody takes over. Woody’s defenses at App State were among the best in the country and fans should expect the Jackets defense to be ferocious and full of tenacity going forward. The spring game will be the first look fans get of Woody’s defense.

The game will be free to all fans and more information will be released by Georgia Tech as the game grows closer.
