With safety Jeremiah Smith committing to the Yellow Jackets on Thursday, it’s time for the first Georgia Tech Football Recruiting scouting report of the 2019 recruiting cycle.
Recruitment and Offers:
- Cincinnati
- Georgia State
- Iowa State
- Kent State
- Mississippi State
- Oregon State
- Pittsburgh
- Wake Forest
- West Virginia
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound safety out of Grayson High School earned him self 10 known offers prior to his commitment on Thursday. The first offer he received was from West Virginia back in October, since then his offer sheet has slowly grown. Smith is just the third player from Grayson to commit to the Jackets during Paul Johnson’s tenure.
Smith, is ranked as a three-star recruit by both 247Sports and Rivals. When it comes to his in-state ranking, Rivals ranks Smith as the 84th best player in the state while 247Sports ranks him as the 103rd best player in the Peach State.
Smith’s commitment to the Jackets came just two days after receiving an offer from Tech and a visit to The Flats. His primary recruiter was safeties coach Shiel Wood who came to The Flats from Wofford this off season as part of the Jackets new defensive staff. It’s Wood’s first commitment for Tech as a primary recruiter.
If Smith stays committed to the Jackets throughout the rest of the 2019 recruiting cycle and signs with the Jackets, he’ll join a secondary that will see a good amount of turnover after next season. This past recruiting cycle, the Jackets sign three members to their secondary including safety Charlie Thomas.
