Georgia Tech faces one of the hardest schedules in college football heading into the 2018 season as it eyes a bounce back following a less than stellar 2017.

Bleacher Report has released its list of the ten toughest schedules in college football and the Yellow Jackets fall squarely in the middle at number five.

Georgia Tech has one of the toughest schedules in football every year due to Clemson and Georgia being on their schedule every season. But added into the gauntlet this year is the emergence of Miami and Virginia Tech and expectations surrounding their programs amid the strengthening of the ACC Coastal.

Miami will be coming off its very first ACC championship game appearance and Virginia Tech will be looking to bounce back after underperforming in year two of Justin Fuente.

The schedule is unrelenting and will give very little relief especially in the middle and arguably most important part of the season in terms of gaining bowl eligibility. The non-conference games are going to be incredibly important early as the Jackets will travel to USF in week two to play Charlie Strong’s team. It will be critical for the Jackets to not lose focus heading into its conference opener at home vs Pitt and Clemson.

The meat of the ACC schedule will happen in October and November with the Jackets playing a Friday night game against Louisville and a Thursday night rivalry game against Virginia Tech in dreaded Lane Stadium. The silver lining, of course, is that Georgia Tech is 2-0 in the last two years against the Hokies.

It is obviously entirely too early to try and say what Georgia Tech is going to be able to do against this daunting schedule, but the expectation must be at least to make a bowl game after sitting out last postseason due to arguably one of the wackier seasons in Techs history.
