Georgia Tech Basketball: Justin Moore announces intention to transfer

Georgia Tech sophomore guard Justin Moore has declared he will be transferring from Georgia Tech.

With Georgia Tech’s season officially over, it’s time for players to move. Some players will graduate, some will transfer, and some may just decide to leave the game completely. It’s the natural attrition a team faces after every season. Known departures from the Jackets roster following the season were guard Tadric Jackson and center Ben Lammers.

On Thursday, sophomore guard Justin Moore decided that he will be leaving Tech after two seasons to move onto another university. Moore was a three-star prospect coming out of Mission Bay High School in San Diego. He committed to the Yellow Jackets over Arizona State, Nevada, Tulane, San Diego State, and USC.

The announcement of Moore’s decision to transfer isn’t too surprising with all things considered.

After being a starter in his true freshman season, Moore was relegated to the bench once top recruit Jose Alvarado came to Tech this past fall and only appeared in eight games total. The Jackets are also bringing one of the top guards in the country in this year’s recruiting class in Michael Devoe.

That being said, personal issues are played a part in Moore’s season that caused the California native to miss a quality amount of time with the team. The chance to transfer will provide Moore the chance to potentially transfer closer to his home in San Diego.

Overall, Moore averaged 3.7 points over his career with the Jackets in 42 games, while starting 18 of those. Moore will finish Tech career with 155 points, 91 assists, and 67 rebounds.
