The Georgia Tech Softball team will host their first home ACC series this weekend welcoming the Wolfpack of NC State.

The Georgia Tech softball team will play their first ACC series at home this weekend, as the NC State Wolfpack come to town. NC State comes in with a 14-9 record and has already played five  ACC games and has collected a 2-3 record. They lost their series to Pitt and split two games with Notre Dame. Their third game with the Irish was canceled.

The leading hitting for the Wolfpack is Alyssa Compton coming into this weekend batting .328. But the big power threat is Timberlynn Shurbutt who has 5 home runs and 17 RBI on the season. Devin Wallace has started 12 games in the circle for the Wolfpack and has an ERA of 2.38.

The Jackets are winners of 12 of their last 14 and started ACC play off with a sweep of Virginia. Being at home this weekend after a sweep on the road is the perfect scenario for the Jackets to keep their momentum. There is excitement in the air for Yellow Jacket softball team. They drew a great crowd in their midweek matchup with Alabama, that even impressed the Tide head coach Patrick Murphy who commented about the great crowd after the game.

Murphy is used to seeing a 3,000 average crowd in Tuscaloosa so he knows a good crowd when he sees it.

With the new set up this season in ACC softball breaking into two divisions much like football this game is not a game in the coastal. The Yellow Jackets lead the coastal at the moment, but the North Carolina Tar Heels are also 3-0 in the conference so the Jackets will look to keep winning and keep the Tar Heels at bay.

The game times for this weekend are Friday at 6:00 Saturday at 1:00 and Sunday at Noon.
