2020 – G Jalen Johnson

When it comes to Johnson’s recruitment, the Jackets and most teams are probably in a situation where the great quote, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” by Wayne Gretzky or Michael Scott depending on who you like rings true. The Jackets offered one of the top 2020 prospects in Jalen Johnson on Sunday.

Johnson is not your normal point guard at 6-foot-7 and 170-pounds and is a special prospect that could be a game changer for any program. Right now, Johnson is ranked as the eighth best prospect in the 2020 recruiting class.  The Wisconsin native, is non-shockingly expected to land at Wisconsin when it’s all said and done.

For the Jackets, there’s a chance they could mold themselves into players but without taking a major step forward on the court in the next two seasons will have a hard time landing any top ten player. Though it should be noted that, Johnson appears to be good friends with Reece Beekman as well, quoting Beekman’s tweet regarding his offer from GT.

Pulling Johnson out of the Badger State will be pretty hard itself considering the tradition and history Wisconsin basketball has. Both Duke and North Carolina have also offered Johnson and are appearing to make him a priority.
