Georgia Tech Baseball: Xzavion Curry wins ACC Pitcher of the Week

Georgia Tech sophomore ace Xzavion Curry continued his strong season this past weekend against Miami and own the ACC Pitcher of the Week for his performance.

Xzavion Curry has won the ACC Pitcher of the Week award for his performance against Miami this past weekend. Curry this past weekend took on the Miami Hurricanes in a pivotal series for the Yellow Jackets. It was a start that was built off a tremendous performance a week ago against NC State.

Curry, the good teammate that he is said that the whole pitching staff deserved the honor for their performance against Miami this past weekend.

Curry was nothing short of dominant having one of his best starts of the season. Curry on Friday night pitched eight innings against the Hurricanes allowing just one run. The sophomore currently has an ERA of 2.72 through 43 innings pitched, allowing just 13 earned runs so far this season. He’s also undefeated with a 6-0 record which is tied for the best record in the nation by a starting pitcher.

Against the Hurricanes, Curry allowed six hits and one walk but also struck out 12. It was his second start of the season in which he struck out as he struck out 11 NC State batters a week ago ago. Over his last two starts, Curry has pitched 16 innings, allowing 10 hits, four walks, and just two runs, he’s also struck out 23 batters.

Curry will look to defend his undefeated record on Friday when he and the Yellow Jackets take on one of the top teams in the nation in the Florida State Seminoles. The Seminoles are 22-7 after this past weekend and are the sixth best team in the country according to D1Baseball.com
